The Philips BlueSeal magnet uses micro-circulation cooling technology that operates with just 7 liters of liquid helium compared to 1,500 liters in standard magnets. This small volume of helium is placed in the magnet and sealed during manufacturing, remaining sealed for the entire service life of the magnet. This reduces the number of long and costly downtime periods in the MRI suite caused by unforeseen situations related to helium leakage. It also completely eliminates the category of costs required to replenish the helium volume in the magnet.

The BlueSeal magnet does not require a vent pipe, which significantly reduces construction costs. In addition, Philips BlueSeal is approximately 900 kg lighter than its predecessor; this weight reduction can potentially simplify installation, reduce floor adaptation requirements, and further lower other installation-related costs.
